To paraphrase Martha, good things. Very, very good. Cap Karma only took one ball of Queensland Kathmandu Aran Tweed (currently on sale for $4.29, $4.29 people!! OMG, Brett, please don’t be offended that I knit you a 5 dollar hat). The yarn is so incredibly soft and tweedy I found it hard to put down. And hey, cables are FUN, I forgot.

And out in the world, shopping for bulk nuts for Whiskey Cookies!
They looked so pale and plain we thought it’d be a good idea to add some Demerara sugar on top! They came out of the oven looking kind of disappointing, like flat, pale pancakes. How did they taste?
Delicious!! They were so breakfast-y with a hint of banana from the whiskey (does anyone else think whiskey tastes like banana), we decided to add a maple syrup swirl to the last batch. There are…only a couple left. Highly recommended cookie, I’ve never had such luck with baking in my life. The texture is…NOT unlike the soft squishy cables of the Cap Karma.
Ah, full circle…
CR
Cap looks great! But wait, cookies look even better! Yum!
the cap does look great, as said before! And who cares if it was $5.00 if it makes you feel like a million bucks. Also, how many swigs of whiskey were taken while baking the whiskey cookies :O)?
Love the cap and will have to try out some whiskey cookies now….perhaps for Robert Burns night which is coming up soon…also have to practice a vegetarian haggis recipe too!
I made that hat too (see website for Ravelry info) and I loved it! I think it works really well in a yummy tweed. I’ve been wanting to try the Kathmandu Aran for awhile and I think I may just have to spring for it now that I read your post! Do you know how it compares to the (discontinued) Rowan Yorkshire Tweed Aran? I love this yarn to death, and wonder if anything other than (too expensive) Rowan can match it gorgeously-flecked sproingyness.
Also, I was wondering if you followed brooklyntweed’s decreases? I did, but mine didn’t show up nearly as well as his did. The decreases were much flatter than the cabled section and I was a little bummed. Yours looks not-unlike the one that I made, so I wondered what you thought…
Thanks! I can’t wait to try those cookies! 🙂
[…] I’m thoroughly liminal these days. Not my favorite state of being but par for the quarterlife course, I’m told. The only things keeping me grounded are a) my very cute but messy bachelorette pad, still a little gem of a sublet, b) Webs, my yarn alma mater, my home nest in the Valley, c) my therapist! and d) last but not least, a certain level-headed hat wearing hottie.
